MetriqFuel RACE is a premium 1:1 blend of highly branched cyclic dextrin (HBCD) and fructose for experienced endurance athletes fuelling above 110 grams of carbohydrate per hour.
It is built for racing and selected race-specific training sessions where very high carbohydrate delivery, drinkability and stomach comfort are priorities.
There is no prescribed upper limit. Your intake should be based on your individual requirements, experience and proven tolerance in training.
HBCD is a large, highly branched glucose polymer.
Its high molecular weight means it can deliver a large amount of carbohydrate while contributing fewer dissolved particles than smaller carbohydrate molecules. That is the formulation advantage when carbohydrate concentration climbs.
RACE uses HBCD as its glucose source, combined with fructose in a precise 1:1 ratio.
Once digested, HBCD supplies glucose through the SGLT1 pathway. Fructose uses the separate GLUT5 pathway.
Combining glucose and fructose allows both intestinal transport pathways to contribute during very high-carbohydrate fuelling.
The 1:1 ratio is built for experienced athletes pushing beyond 110 g/hr.
Both products use a 1:1 glucose-to-fructose ratio. The difference is the glucose source and intended use.

RACE is not automatically better for every athlete. It is a specialised option for athletes whose race-day carbohydrate demands justify it.
The number of race hours provided by each bag will vary with your chosen carbohydrate intake.
RACE is designed primarily for competition and selected race-specific sessions.
Use those sessions to validate:
RACE is not necessary for every easy or short training session.
RACE does not eliminate the risk of gastrointestinal discomfort.
Total carbohydrate intake, fluid intake, drink concentration, exercise intensity and individual tolerance all matter.
Work up to very high carbohydrate rates slowly. Test your exact concentration, fluid volume, timing and hourly intake repeatedly in training.
Never use a new fuelling strategy for the first time on race day.
RACE does not prescribe a maximum intake. Higher is not automatically better. Use the carbohydrate rate that supports your performance and that you can consistently tolerate.
Highly branched cyclic dextrin (HBCD), fructose.
